I thought I'd take a few minutes to share what it is I like to do, what fascinates me, and how I try to combine my interests to help affect change/prosperity.
Cycling...
I love bicycles. (We'll just get that out of the way)
They are such elegantly efficient machines.
I've done Touring/Charity Rides to Races,
Time Trials to Triathlons, and recently conceptualized my own design.
It's part of my goal to limit my use of fossil fuels, stay healthy, and enjoy the journey along the way.
I find the humble/simple bicycle can help do, just that.
Running...
I've worked up from sitting on my couch, to 5/10k's, and now enjoy running marathons.
I've found you can learn a lot about yourself by pushing your limits!
I hope to qualify for Boston one day.
The past 18 months, I've transitioned to barefoot/ minimalist running, and it's never been more fun.
Playing Music...
I find that music really helps me "clear my head."
It can be calming on tense days of deadlines/pressure,...
and provide added pep when you'd rather be doing anything, other than your current task.
I forces you to think creatively and to "live in the moment."
Most days, I think we'd all benefit from a little time to reflect and decompress.
....and
Developing New Technologies/Solutions.
After all, I'd guess this is why you're here.
Who doesn't want to help invent the next "big thing," social media darling, or simply help people achieve their goals?
I started with some xHTML and Adobe CS and it grew from there.
I've found I really enjoy programming in Python/Java and recently started learning Objective C and PHP.... not to mention iOS and Android.
I'm familiar with SQL, XML, xHTML, Java, Python 2.7, and both Eclipse and Netbeans IDE's. While I'm continually gaining familiarity with "back-end/legacy systems," I've had the most experience designing and working with GUIs.
